Early birds

We needed to leave early for the hour long drive through the countryside. We packed the 'ute' (truck) with all of our camping gear, food, kitchen sink etc. etc.

The journey to Kangaroo Valley was very pretty. Many rolling hills and quaint little villages like we have back home. We stopped in Berry, a lovely country town for a short break and to refuel with delicious cinnamon coated doughnuts.

When we arrived in Kangaroo Valley, we battled through the flies and loaded our camping gear into waterproof barrels. We were then dropped at the river with 2 Canadian canoes as our trusty companions!

Paddling through the tree lined valley was amazing. We spotted cute kangaroos, furry wombats, huge eagles, water dragons (lizards) and could hear the cuccaboroughs laughing from the trees. Amazing!

We reached a great camping spot and set up all our gear. We heated up some food we had prepared the day before and started a camp fire. The fire was so good at keeping the bugs away and as the temperature dropped (a little), we huddled round for the night. A great adventure!
